About the event

Artist Statement:

Many artists influence my work, from the Masters of the Renaissance to those of the modern day. My impressionistic painting is an expression of the beauty I find in everyday life. I strive to depict not only the visual allure of my subject, but also the impact on all the senses in the moment in which I experienced it. I continue to study and grow as an artist, remaining ever mindful that it is a God-given privilege to be able to create and find immense joy in this endeavor.

Artist Biography

Beth Dean, a Mississippi native, has painted since early childhood. She studied under many local artists and was classically trained in her fine arts education. She holds a B.A. in Interior Design, and elected emphasis in Renaissance Art History. After college, Beth had a commercial interior design career for over twenty years. Always vowing to "go back to painting,” Beth committed herself to fulfilling that desire to become a professional artist in 1998.

Beth's oil paintings are representational in style, depicting landscapes, seascapes and figural works. Her impressionistic paintings are completed both in her studio, working “alla prima,” in addition to painting en plein air. A confirmed Italophile, Beth spends time in Italy as often as possible, where she paints, sketches and draws inspiration for many of her paintings.

Beth teaches oil painting classes, sketch journaling and plein air workshops. Her studio is near her home on a lake in Madison County, Mississippi, where she resides with her architect husband, Richard, their two sons, and two rescue dogs that run the place.
